It should appear in your electronic on screen TV guide in freeview too just like it does on my sky box where it's listed under channel 980 for me. Its also listed on the EPG on every TV platform now since last summer when sky boxes were the last to get it permanently on the EPG. I know its a pain via BBC B MUX on freeview, that's why Dsat it better, I have Sky but freesat would do nicely to solve the problem with red button fully working on the BBC's HD channels. OK, most of the time it's either closed or showing multi-repeats (which don't need to be publicised) but if on the listings in mags underneath BBC1 was posted BBC Extra + channel numbers and what was on "Snooker 11 - 8pm" or "Hockey England v Argentina 4pm" etc etc I'm sure viewing figures would be better.īe interesting to know how many sit down and think "oh, I'll have a look at 601* and see what's on" - I bet it's a fairly small percentage? What I don't get is why the red button isn't a channel in it's own right and somewhere sensible in the EPG + it's own listings on the TV guide. It's an idea but it means two button presses - one for BBC1sd and then one for the red button - how many would get that far?!! They could have a notice when you get in there saying: 'To access red button text services please back up and switch to BBC 1 in SD at channel 1 and press red there.' This would help people know where to find things, the message could disappear after 10 seconds. The BBC always put this on when we they have sporting events so why not keep it permanently?
